Happy Thanksgiving To You And Your Loved Ones
Whether you have much to be thankful for or you’re struggling to find something, we hope Thanksgiving is filled with peace and blessings.
Does it feel like the Thanksgiving holiday gets lost between Halloween and Christmas these days?
I was shopping last week and had a hard time finding any Thanksgiving-themed items. It seems as soon as Halloween was over, they were cleared out to make room for Christmas stock. But Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays, mainly because it’s not so commercialized.
On Thanksgiving, there aren’t any gifts to buy, or baskets to fill, or flowers and candy to send. It’s not about a mad dash to purchase things for everyone. It’s just a day to get together with our loved ones, and enjoy a delicious meal. And maybe pause for a moment or two to be grateful for the good things in our lives.
I’m not being unrealistic. I know there are many people who are dealing with hard things. This time of year can be a struggle.
But no matter what your circumstances, finding something to be thankful for is a good thing. Science has proven that when you give and practice gratitude it causes positive physiological responses in your brain. Thankfulness makes you happier. And if you can’t find even one thing to be grateful for, the act of giving produces the same effect.
This year, I am thankful for all the great and small things we’ve been blessed with.
We’ve had a pretty good year. Not everything has gone the way we hoped. There have been some things that have brought us heartache and frustration. But we can always be thankful for good health, our family and loved ones, and the countless things that bring us joy every day.
